Out for a walk today and came across the this family of Red Legged Partridge looking for food close to the road.
A quick visit to the stables to check on the Swallows. There getting bigger and one of the nest has fledged. As i waited for the adults to come in one landed to check me out so i got a good close up of the food there bringing in for the young.
Great news out for a walk where I spotted the Redstart a week ago, I heard the Female calling so watched and waiting in the trees was a young Redstart. Then Mum appeared and fed the juvenile, so that’s another Bird species ticked off in the Book
Great news the Blue Tits in the nest box behind the van flegded today around 9.15. They flew onto the ground then all made it up into the Trees. Adults were feeding so it looks god for the little chaps.

The Swallows are back at the Stables but this year there are not that many only one nest in the stables outside. The young look very tired in this heat but the parents are feeding them lots of insects so they should be ok.
Out of 4 nest boxes at 30 Birch Wood only one remains, we have had 2 Great Tit nesting and raising young and all have fledge the nest, there is one Blue Tit nest box still remaining and are still feeding up until yesterday. The Adults look as if there having a hard time of… Read more »
After 9 weeks the Ducklings Fledged on Sunday 5th June 2016, and i missed it as i went back to Thornton for a Family Barbie. I found out from a site member yesterday that they all went together after a couple of attempts. Lets hope they make it and come back to visit.
This is a very quiet time for birds and animals as the young are born and the parents are resting to get back into full health, the young are very active and learning from the parents all the skills they will need to get through the first year. As i went round the pond i… Read more »
First seen on Easter weekend the Ducklings have grown into nice healthy Adult Ducks. Its that time of the year, i woke up this morning to a gathering of juvenile birds Great Spotted Woodpecker has 2 young, Robin has 3, Tree Sparrow 3, Dunnock 2. Managed to get the Woodpecker and Tree Sparrow.
Early walk down to the pond to see the Ducklings, as i approached the corner near reception i heard the call of the Gold Crest, good job i had the camera.
Just close to the hide is a huge field covered with buttercups and i could hear the Lapwing calling so i waited and one flew past very low.
