The Hide at its Best. The UK has many great birds and the Hide today had many visitors to watch. The Male Brambling made 3 to 4 visits. Male Siskin, Male Reed Bunting, Redpoll, Greenfinch Woodpecker all showing well. Plus many more.

First Reed Bunting 2017

Reed Bunting.  Amber Alert Status   Seen today in the Hide. Sparrow-sized but slim and with a long, deeply notched tail, the male has a black head, white collar and a drooping moustache. Females and winter males have a streaked head. In flight the tail looks black with broad, white edges.

Great Spotted Woodpecker

Erly morning at the Hide re arranging the tree stumps, drizzle and damp but the birds came to feed as soon as i had finished filling the feeders up. A pair of Woodpeckers were chasing each other which i have seen but never close up.

2 New Species sighted

2 New Bird sightings at the Hide and on site. A Chiffchaff was sighted on Friday 24th March but had to send picture off to get it ID. And up near the stables today a Pied Wagtail is showing well, as it does every year, picture to follow when I get a good enough image.

Late Evening Out

Another evening late to catch the Wildlife that ventures out as the light goes. And again i was lucky again to watch 3 Brown Hare’s playing a short distance from where i was. One was very relaxed and cleaned its back feet for a minute.
