After a great week spent with the Kingfisher on the river Greta i decided to check out the Red Fox family down in the secret location. I set up my Trail camera which monitors any movement and records in full colour and sound. On Thursday afternoon i checked the footage and found some nice clips of the Adult fox with 2 cubs.
On Friday morning i got rigged out in my Sniper outfit and made my way down to the location where i had seen the Fox family. I arrived and found a good vantage point to capture the fox. 2 hours passed by with only a couple of Rabbits passing me. Then out of the corner of my eye i spotted somthing small and rusty messing about in the undergrowth. A small Cub was checking out the Rabbit holes, and within a couple of minutes the adult came into veiw with 3 more little cubs. They started to play fight but i could not get a picture, but then one cub came close and seem to look at me trying to work out what was lying next to the big Oak tree. I had the camera set to silent shooting and managed to get 2 shots off before the Adult was spooked by me and it let a huge bark out which scattered the young ones, and that was that they ran into the undergrowth.
What a great experience to witness a family of Red Fox in the wild on my own. I understand the different opinions on the Red Fox and the damage they do the peoples Poultry and i feel for them, but to be so close to wild animals gives me such a buzz and to get the pictures is a massive bonus.
Sadly while filming i noticed that the Adult had lost its left rear leg but was moving ok but i would imagine it wont be around when another dominant Male or Female comes to the area, and i dont think it will be able to hunt so its not looking good for this adult but thats nature. At least he or she has had the chance to raise this family.
