Great Spotted Woodpecker

This is an amazing bird to photograph at the hide. You can get so close to this shy bird. It has so many different movements. When it comes in to feed it is very alert always looking around for danger.   It is clever at finding places to place the Peanut to eat it. Small holes that have weathered away are ideal for breaking the nut up to eat. I never new this type of behavior until i built the hide and observed it for the first time. It is very hard to capture in flight as it moves about quickly so i have to anticipate and watch the body language for the sign it is going to take to flight. I captured this one and it is not %100 in focus but i was happy to show it.
