11th June Great Spotted Woodpecker
Walking around the Park yesterday i came across a Great Spotted Woodpecker nest near the Pond close to the Hide. The nest is in a old Silver Birch tree with 2 Fungi above and below it. This is common for the nest to be underneath Fungi. i found it because of the noise coming from the young calling for food. The woodpecker has great awarenees of anything around the nest area , so to get close i had to wait for the parents to go for food. Using the 3D Camo Poncho i got into position and waited. I only took a few photos before i was spotted, so i left them alone.
