As i promised when i started the Blog this season i said i would post pictures and my findings on the Goodenbergh site, not only from the site and Hide but in the local area. Yes i do have a life outside the site and hide. So when me and Ruth were out yesterday we went for a walk on one of the local rivers and stopped to talk to a lady who was doing her garden. I asked if the Kingfisher had been seen on the river and she informed me it had been seen Wednesday 9th May in the afternoon.
So at 5 this morning i went down and set up in a position that i thought would be a suitable place for a Kingfisher to land. The sun came up and shed a lovely light on the river bank. So while i waited a Blackbird came to collect food for her young, then followed by a Robin then a Grey Wagtail all giving a great reflection in the water.
Then when i thought thats it, the King of the River landed and stayed for a few minutes posing with a fish in its mouth. I was gob smacked to have so much time to take pictures of this great rare bird. Its a flash of Blue people see on the river not one sitting with a fish for around 4 minutes. So happy 5 years and 3 good sightings of this my 2nd Fav bird. Hope you enjoy.
